"Another Bungee Jumping Congress"

(Will the cords remain short enough?)
(Hopefully not.)

"Don't put off till tomorrow what you can do today."
Don't Congressmen take advice from their mommies?
Apparently not from what we've just heard.
It's the old bungee cord deal for the dummies.

Over the cliff, but who measured the cords?
And of special importance, back when?
Weren't these bungee cords once the late President Ford's?
Well, how many times have they been jumped with since then?

A bungee cord stretches each time that it's used,
So what are the chances they'll get bounced and not bruised?
Though the cliffs they're going over are taller and taller,
Their chances of bouncing get smaller and smaller, and smaller.

Surely the odds are not in their favor
So what can we learn watching each last moment's waver?
He's mistakenly sure that his cord will be short,
Or he drank his last quart and's one helluva sport!
