Nuking Your Real Estate's Value
(The nuclear industry's reputation for lying won't help)

What's going to happen to your home's market value
The next time a nuclear plant anywhere fails?
Will the Nuclear Regulatory Commission
Notify you on TWITTER or by repeated e-mails?

Can they even tell you if the plant you live near
Has completed the maintenance that it was supposed to?
Or could that be something they don't want you to know,
Stuff that plant operators don't bother to do?

Misinformation is the industry rule
With regulators protecting their fat cats.
For at least fifty years NRC's lied about risks,
Rarely revealing that it's wearing two hats.

We think it's protecting us? Well, think again.
These watchdogs play dead when they should regulate –
They rely on utilities never to lie.
So Indian Point's leaking for years? An act of fate.

And most likely a prelude to our own Fukushima
Which the industry prays that we won't learn about.
But when nuclear radiation kills your neighborhood's dogs,
How long will it be till the message gets out?

Then even the very best real estate agents,
And discounted mortgage rates from the big banks,
And Jaczko's NRC claiming it's 'safe' radiation
Won't help when your local real estate market tanks.
