Our Own Herbert Hoover
(But where's our FDR?)

The way things are going we'd better start looking.
Most people agree that we're stuck in reverse.
Even Hoover was stymied by Republican fears
That Fed intervention would make things a lot worse.

It didn't, but who will become our new FDR?
Who'll have the courage to stick it to Mitch?
Who'll help avoid a McConnell Depression?
How many nursemaids can he hire for the rich?

Why bother with bills Mitch will circumvent later
After much compromising to get them to pass?
Isn't it clear that the best lame duck tactic
Will be to say 'No' till Mitch runs out of gas

Persuading Tea Partiers that earmarks for Kentucky
Will be more stimulating than what Calvin Coolidge
Left Herbert Hoover – and Bush left Obama
And as symbolic as his Ted Stevens bridge.
