Obama's Gulf War –
Politics Of Desire
Deciphering BP's game

Allen was pleased with BP's lack of progress,
Debating the folly of ignoring more leaks.
If the leaks became such that they threatened the well head,
Forget legal beagles. They'd turn to their geeks

Who'd insist valves be opened to restart the flow –
All hell would break loose – British tea time be damned –
Containment vessels would be relocated
While they shredded fake photos with which Allen was scammed.

He thought they were carefully watching the gauges
As the pressure inched up a bit more than it was.
How was someone with Thad's lack of experience
To know that BP must have issued them straws?

So instead of watching, BP had them blowing.
How else to explain such an extended test?
It wasn't a failed "static kill" that concerned them,
But desire to keep rate of flow close to the vest.
