Deficits came from out of nowhere.
They weren't there, nor in my plan.
First the applause,
Then the faux pas and nightmare:
War in Iraq and slashing taxes began.

Greenspan's OK came out of nowhere,
Cutting his rates as low as he could.
Still all those gobs
Of good-paying jobs flew off somewhere,
And refunds weren't spent
   to the extent we'd dreamed they would.

The need for more oil came out of nowhere –
Low-sulfur crude's gone through the roof.
Greenspan's backed off
And all bets are off we'll go somehere –
Nowhere's more likely;
Whose foolish plan wasn't exactly foolproof?
