They're Recruiting *
To be sung with Fred Astaire to the Irving Berlin tune
"Cheek to Cheek"
(Heaven, I'm in heaven, and my heart beats so that I can hardly speak)

Bankrupt – I am bankrupt,
And George Bush has made sure that I can't restart.
Seems my only choice requires a Purple Heart
Or a Donald Rumsfeld "till death do us part."

Visa – It was Visa,
Who had pre-approved my credit through the mail,
But they never warned me what that might entail
And now they say they'll have me put in jail.

Oh, I've tried to work at WalMart,
Though for very little dough,
But, me, I don't speak Spanish
Which I'd really need to know.

Now they want me in the Army,
But I'd end up in Iraq.
And with only guys like me to serve
Who knows when I'd get back?

Pray for me –
I didn't know what I'd owe –
How the interest would grow –
Where they'd want me to go.

Bankrupt – I am bankrupt
But because of Bush and pols like Tom DeLay,
And the fact that WalMart isn't forced to pay
A living wage, I'm off to Mexico, Olé.
